Preamble
Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) is awarding mobility scholarships to students from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds. The mobility scholarship is intended to help cover the high cost of living in Zurich for one semester and thus enable students from PPGCA-UFF Arts-UFF to spend a semester abroad. The selected partner universities have previously signed a regular student exchange agreement with ZHdK.
This agreement defines the conditions that need to be fulfilled for the students to receive a scholarship, the selection process at ZHdK as well as the amount of the scholarship.
Conditions
Only students from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds are nominated by UFF to receive a ZHdK mobility scholarship. UFF nominates up to two students per year in the discipline art education.
Selection process
The students apply for an exchange semester at ZHdK via the regular process as described in the student exchange agreement. On top of all required documents, they attach a letter from UFF stating that they are eligible to receive a ZHdK mobility scholarship for one semester.
Once the students have been accepted for the exchange semester (regular process as described in the student exchange agreement), they are either immediately entitled to receive the scholarship, or, if there are more applications than scholarships available, the ZHdK International Affairs Committee selects the recipients of the scholarship, taking into account a fair balance between the five departments of ZHdK.
Amount of scholarship
After arriving in Switzerland, the student receives a scholarship of CHF 10,000 to cover the costs incurred during their studies at ZHdK during one semester. The scholarship can also be used to pre-finance the flight ticket to Switzerland and the compulsory health insurance.
Selection and Admission
The PPGCA and Arts-UFF screens the applications from students interested in an exchange semester. This includes ensuring that applicants fulfil academic requirements, are open-minded and able to integrate within the offered program and class. The exchange is available to students who have successfully completed at least one year of the basic degree programme.
The ZHdK reserves the right to make final judgements on the admissibility of each student nominated for an exchange. The host university also retains the right to assess a candidate’s language proficiency. At ZHdK, classes are generally held in German. Therefore, a B2 level in German and/or a B2 level* in English is demanded.
The application process requires documentation that demonstrates your proficiency in german or english. The university will accept equivalent certificates, particularly those issued by PULE UFF (Programa Universitário de Línguas Estrangeiras). However, please be advised that ZHdK reserves the right to reject applications from candidates whose language skills fall below the expected level.
*Following the Common European Framework of Reference for Language.
